The Grimentz Region
Geographically, Grimentz is positioned with Zermatt (The Matterhorn) to
the east, Verbier to the west, Crans-Montana across the Rhone Valley to the north, and Italy a short distance to the south.
Grimentz is the largest village in the Val d’Anniviers, taken to be one of the most beautiful high altitude valleys in the Alps. The high mountains which surround Grimentz offer stunning scenery as well as incredible sports & adventure activities.
Skiing in Grimentz
With cable car links between Grimentz and Zinal to provide access to over 120km of ski pistes and off-piste trails, Grimentz provide some of the best skiing routes in Valais. Cable cars allow for skiing altitudes of up to 3000m.
This area offers some of the best off piste sking in Switzerland. The Val d’Anniviers boasts in total 230km of ski-pistes in the winter months, and over 300km of summer hiking paths and biking trails.

There are free ski shuttle buses provided to travel between the local villages in Grimentz.
Fantastic snow coverage in the area guarantees excellent ski conditions up to an altitude of 3000m. The area offers ski routes for all abilities, St Luc & Chandolin being most suited to beginner & intermediate skiers/snowboarders. Whereas extreme skiers & snowboarders will find the slopes in Zinal more than enough of a challenge.
If skiing or snowboarding isn’t your idea of fun, why not take a magical walk through the dense forests surrounding Grimentz. In the winter months you will find these dusted in snow, a real-life winter wonderland.
Summer in Grimentz
Grimentz and the entire Val d’Anniviers see beautiful summers. As the snow melts and reveals the luscious green forests, you will see red geraniums flooding the meadows. Bubbling streams make their way to crystal clear lakes nestled between the mountains , which remain snow capped due to their high altitude.
The architecture in Grimentz not only looks wonderful surrounded by the snow in winter, but beautiful in the summer months as it is bathed in the warm summer sunlight. With over 100km of hiking trails and around 350km of mountain bike trails linking expansive lakes and forests, there are plenty of sights to see around the local area.
Why not get your adrenaline going with a paragliding flight from one of the surrounding mountains, or test your skills at rock climbing. If a more relaxing break is what you’re looking for, why not cool off from the 30 degree heat by taking a swim in one of the local lakes. There is something for everyone in Grimentz.
