Ice Cube Bar Verbier
Verbier is one of the most well-known ski destinations in Switzerland. This beautiful village is situated at around 1500 metres in municipality of Bagnes, Valais, facing the Grand Combin – a massif with four peaks reaching altitudes of 4000 metres. Verbier is recognised to be one of the most premier backcountry ski resorts in the world, but it is not just skiing which makes Verbier a fantastic destination. Join us today as we take a look at 5 great things to do during your time in Verbier.

1. Off-Piste Skiing

Skiers have been drawn to Verbier for years with the number only growing. This skier’s paradise is comprised of steep slopes, varied conditions, and an immersive ski resort culture. Thanks to the fantastic location that surrounds Verbier, it offers some of Europe’s best off-piste skiing opportunities. We recommend taking a day (…or more) to appreciate the powdery off-piste runs down the absolutely stunning slopes. To get the absolute maximum out of your day hire a guide, or for total freedom, a helicopter!

2. Take to the Skies

Though you will spend the majority of your time a few thousand metres above sea level, there is nothing quite like the feeling of soaring above Verbier while paragliding. And for those who love the thrill of an adventure while soaking in some of the most stunning sights you could ever see, there is really no other way to appreciate this beautiful part of the world. Tandem paragliding adventures are with a qualified and experienced instructor, so just sit back as they guide you between the mountains, over the snow-capped trees, and finally back down to earth – at which point we guarantee you’ll want to have another go!

A bird’s eye view of Verbier will give you a totally different perspective (literally!) of this part of the world. In winter you will be able to watch the colourful figures tracing their way down the slopes, while in summer you will fly above the luscious green meadows and delicate blue streams & rivers below. Paragliding in Verbier is weather permitting, so we always say if you get the opportunity to do it, take it!

3. Après Ski in Verbier

Après ski events have always played a big role in the post-ski activities at many ski resorts, and for good reason. Après ski is a great time to socialise, refuel, and unwind after a day on the slopes. Verbier offers a whole range of après ski activities and parties, even if you aren’t skiing you can head to one to enjoy the electric atmosphere they offer.

Pub Mont Fort is a popular après ski destination for visitors and locals in Verbier. It is situated just up the mountain from the offshore café and have both food and drinks on the menu. Enjoy happy hour between 4pm and 5pm as you take in the view and enjoy the music. Take it easy and fill up on the large portions of foods they have to offer, or kick start the party with a signature cocktail mixture to celebrate another day in Verbier, with plenty more to come!

4. Rosti with a View

Le Carrefour take a prime position on the slopes around Verbier. It is accessible by bus or cable and provides expansive views of the surrounding mountains as you tuck into mouth-watering foods and exquisite drinks. Serving an incredible array of dishes from Asian inspired cuisine to pasta, but we think you too will agree this restaurant takes pole position because of its Rosti menu. This Swiss-born dish is comprised of grated potato with a variety of accompaniments including ham and mushroom, or bacon and onion – all of which are simply delicious. These dishes are great for sharing, or if you’re particularly hungry why not try and tackle a whole one yourself!

5. Hot Chocolate in the Clouds

Hot chocolate and snow go hand in hand, and there is a good reason this historic combination has stood the test of time…it’s luxurious, it’s cosy, and it’s delicious! A hot chocolate stop in the Alps makes a great pitstop break to give you that much needed energy boost to keep tearing down the slopes. Ice Cube can be found 2200 metres above Verbier, and presents itself as a beautifully modern yet cosy cabin-style café/bar. Serving everything from a warm cup of cocoa drowning in whipped cream, to gigantic burgers loaded with cheese and other goodies – Ice cube is the place to go to refill those energy bars before taking to the slopes once again!
